The term 'robot' first became popular with the 1921 play R.U.R. (Russom's Universal Robots)

That play, oddly enough, has never made it to the screen. But we've seen scores of robots of all shapes and sizes on the big and small screen since. I thought it would be fun to catalog some of them here!

1.Robby the Robot!

Robby made his first appearance in the FORBIDDEN PLANET (1956) and went on to star in the INVISABLE BOY (1958) He's appeared on various tv shows, including the famous 'War of the Robots' episode of Lost In Space. He also made guest shots in INVASION of the NEPTUNE MEN (1961),HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD (1976) and GREMLINS (1984)

And commercials too!
