I have heard nothing about this coming to region 1 DVD, and I would have thought this would be the first place I'd hear it.  Then again, I did go a month without internet, and hence had no way of discovering this.  It was a nice rock I was living under for that month, though.  So warm and cozy...

Anyway, one thing has me kind of worried about this.  On the run time, it says "60 minutes."

So is this really an honest release of Phantasm 2 on Region 1, or is someone yanking my crank?

Apparently, it is legit indeed - http://www.videobusiness.com/article/CA6663030.html . I don't know if this is gonna have any special features or even a good transfer (By all means, it should considering the studio), but regardless, it's good news for phans for whom a different-region player is out of the question. Looks legit.  Here's an article that was linked from the official Phantasm website: http://www.quietearth.us/articles/2009/06/09/Did-hell-just-freeze-over-PHANTASM-II-gets-a--R1-DVD-release

i cant say that im all that excited and i wish i was. it appears that this dvd has nothing on it as far as extras. the fans in the us have been waiting forever for this and i feel like they could have hooked us up nicely. i mean there is a special edition of the first third and fourth.
