I'm sorry, did I break your concentration?

« on: October 03, 2009, 12:03:22 PM »

As I mentioned elsewhere I recently had a PET scan. I was told that this would involve the intravenous injection of a contrast material and that I would the spend the next 45 minutes or so in a darkened room relaxing in a recliner so this material could circulate throughout my body. I was relaxing in the recliner in the injection room when the technician came in and told me he was going to prep me for and then administer the injection. He stuck a needle with a plastic and rubber cap into my right arm, this would allow for multiple injections without having to find a vein each time, he then said he was going to get the contrast material for my scan. This is where the funny stuff began, he went through a door with the following sign on it.

RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL STORAGE ROOM
RADATION HAZARD
NO UNAUTHORISED ENTRY
DOOR TO REMAIN CLOSED AT ALL TIMES

He came out carring a metal cylinder with a pair of tongs, he had on a pair of thick gloves, he set the cylinder down on a small table beside me opened it with a smaller pair of tongs, he used them to take out a syringe, then he said the following to me.
"There's no need to worry or be afraid, this is perfectly safe and harmless, there are no unpleasant or harmful side effects and there are no bad aftereffects either."

I would think you would get some superpowers out of that.  Have you tried moving things with your mind yet?

One thing has me a little concerned, I had this done on the 30th, that was 5 days ago and our 2 dogs will not stop licking my right arm where the injection was given.

Hey, they like the taste of radiation, what's wrong with that?

But seriously, I wouldn't let them lick there anymore.  It may be bad for you, or even them.
