A good bad movie is like popcorn for the soul!

« on: November 02, 2009, 11:20:00 PM »

After the soul-crushing badness of Will Ferrell in LAND OF THE LOST, I was ready to sink into some comforting, familiar, semi-scary, semi-humorous territory for Halloween night to purge that CGI Sleestak badness out of my soul.  And what better way to do that than with a by-the-numbers Cannibal Mutant Hilbilly sequel?

Everyone here knows of my love for the CMH genre.  I mean, sure, there is the occasional train wreck, like THE BLOOD SHED, but for the most part, CMH movies guarantee you a decent amount of blood, boobs, fake scares, disembowelments, and at least one good decapitation.  What more can you ask for?

In this sequel, the surviving CMH from the earlier movies, Three Fingers, is teaching his son the fine art of trapping and eating spring break kayakers when their wilderness idyll is interrupted by the arrival of a bus full of dangerous cons being transported from one prison to another.
Will the CMH's fill their smokehouse for the winter?  Or are the cons too tough for them? Will the sole surviving spring breaker hook up with the hunky prison guard?  How many cliches will the token black guard utter before the Aryan Brotherhood cons blow him away?  And just how much physical trauma does it take to put a CMH down for good, anyway?  And what is that armored car doing in the middle of the forest?  And, if a CMH ate Will Ferrell for  dinner, would the movie going community rise up and reward him for his service to all mankind?

All these and more await you in the action packed thrill ride that is WRONG TURN 3. (Well, that last one was wishful thinking.  But the other stuff is all there!) Seriously, this is a QUALITY CMH flick.  You have my  word on it.

Part 2 remains superior, Part 3 is just average junk with good/great gore. It can be entertaining though, when in the right mood.

The only part I really liked about Wrong Turn 2 was the horribly hilarious murder of the girl at the beginning. I actually woke up all my roommates to watch that. The rest of the movie was not so good.

I may watch Wrong Turn 3 at some point, but let me ask you this: Was the meaningless cleavage as good in part 3 as it was in part 1? Because that's the only reason I watched the first one.

Well, the first chick to die (5 minutes into the move) spends most of her onscreen time topless . . . and she was very gorgeous!  After that, not much in the cleavage dept.

I really enjoyed part 1, but part 2 kind of killed my interest in the franchise.  The one or two likable characters were the first to die.  That hilarious double murder when they were hanging in the tree was worth a laugh though.

Glad you enjoyed part 3 Indy  TongueOut
