I'm new here, and I don't understand why I can't post links. When can I do this, because I really wanted to be a part of this forum, but if I can't do certain things that I can do on similar foums, than this is just a waste of excitement.

I'm afraid that new members cannot post links until they reach a certain number of posts.  It's due to spammers, who have in the past registered an account and then posted spam links or even graphic pornographic pictures.

Just post for a little bit and you'll be able to post links.  I promise you it's not a lot of posts.  The reason it's there is to discourage spammers is all, and they usually give up if they cannot post links after a handful of junk posts (and the junk posts usually help us flag them as a possible spammer).

I see. I was just hugely disappointed, because I wanted to post some VHS covers on the topic of the same name, and because I wanted to put an avatar on my profile.

I think in about 6 posts you'll be able to upload an avatar.  Smile

When I posted that, you had about 4, so 6 more posts would make 10. I believe it's 10 posts, then you can upload your own avatar.  Smile

It didn't work. I go to PROFILE, and under Modify Profile there's only Account Related Settings. I go there and there's nothing for uploading avatars, or writing personal info like my birthday. Bluesad

Ah well, the 'ol rules and such have changed because of spammer, so I'm not to sure then what the number of posts required is at the moment.

It seems like it was actually sort of a medium sized problem  TeddyR
