So here we are...November (at least at the time of the initial post) and the holiday I can't stand is on the horizon already...Xmas.   Although its early, I figured if the stores can pimp their obnoxious singing Santas, tacky light sets and jingle bells then why couldn't I start it now?

IOW, post your anti-Xmas sentiments here and lets help each other through the yuletide.  Roll the theme song...

A good bad movie is like popcorn for the soul!

Can't join this party, sorry.

Yes, I do get tired of the rampant commercialization and overhype.

But I am still in love with the whole idea of God coming into the world as a child to bring about man's redemption.  That part of Christmas - not the malls, the Santas, and the cheesy decorations - is what I cherish.

That being said, canned "elevator music" Christmas carols are the WORST.

A radio station where I live plays Christmas music during the Holidays. Normally they don't start until the Friday after Thanksgiving, but this year they have already started. I want to scream anytime I ride int he car with my wife cause she wants to listen to this station all the time.

Oh dude...don't even get me started.  I was the leading factor of getting the radio banned in my workplace Nov 27 through Dec 25.  I don't need to hear White Christmas twice an hour by 16 different artists.

I like the idea of emphasizing a spirit of brotherhood among all humanity, not just in December but all year long.  I don't like the overwhelming commercialization.  I don't like in-your-face types of both Pro- and Anti-Christmas camps.  Let everyone celebrate, or decline to celebrate, in their own way.

That being said, any hypothetical children I bring into the world will be raised on stories of Krampus/Knecht Ruprecht alongside Santa Claus.

Actually, my friends and I were just in Target complaining about how they were playing Christmas jingles... Yes I hate what Christmas has become. I have no problem with people who celebrate it as the birth of Christ, but the commercialism really bugs me.

What hellbilly said ~ I like to see children's smiling faces at Christmas. The cookies and eggnog part of it reminds me of something our beloved Gunny wrote a few years back:

Quote
I think that several of the regulars are already indulging in eggnog and sugar cookie binge-eating.  Plus, it is rather obvious that "some" (cough - Scott and Menard - cough) decided to drink a full pot of coffee this morning and I do not mean decaf.

Sorry, can't join either.   Twirling  I love Christmas, it brings back a ton of happy childhood memories and makes me feel like a little kid again.  I love everything from the snow to picking out a Christmas tree;  wrapping presents and watching them slowly accumulate under the tree;  seeing our kids' faces when they open their presents on Christmas eve;  watching the cat tear into the pile of discarded wrapping paper;  baking Christmas cookies, Christmas music at the mall, shopping with a million other people, egg nog, watching Rudolph, Frosty, the Little Drummer Boy, hell I even enjoy the "very special" Christmas episodes of all the TV shows and the Christmas commercials.

Love it all  TeddyR  TeddyR TeddyR
