Now, here's a hilarious series you just HAVE to look up.  It aired on Cartoon Network a few years back.  Megas XLR
starts out in the distant future where earth is fighting a losing war against the Glorf, an evil alien race.  The humans have hatched a desperate plan: they've stolen the MEGAS, an advanced alien robot, and plan on sending it back in time to before the war began to prevent the current future from ever happening.  Kiva, a red haired, no-nonsense soldier from the future, is about to pull all this off, when a sudden attack by the Glorf prematurely activates the time portal before she can get inside the robot.

The Megas ends up in modern day New Jersey, where it's purchased from a junkyard by Coup, an obese mechanical and video game nut, who radically alters the Megas, among other things, replacing the robot's head with his car.  Together with best friend/slacker Jamie, they're out taking their new "toy" for a test drive when Kiva appears.  At first, she tries to steal the robot, but, because of all the modifications Coup has made, she no longer knows to work the machine.  Only one solution: she must work with and train Coup to defeat the Glorf and return peace to her future.  Coup though, is having none of this, he just wants to "cruise around, maybe pick up some babes." And then the Glorf, who've also traveled through time, show up...

Basically the series is the weekly adventurous of Coup and company as they get into all kinds of crazy situations and trouble.  What makes the show so great is that it's REALLY funny.  The show features all kinds of parodies and references to various other sci-fi films and TV series, like Godzilla, Power Rangers, Sailor Moon, Star Trek, Voltron etc.  Not to mention all sorts of awesome guest stars for voices, like Frank Weller (the original Optimus), Keith David, heck, even BRUCE CAMPBELL is featured in two episodes.

Also, Coop is one of the funniest main characters I've seen in awhile.  Although a mechanical and video game genius, he's not that bright, and often ends up making the situation he's in worse by accident.  I could spend hours typing various quotes from the show, but I'll just give you a few gems...

Kiva: Coop! You just opened up a matter/anti-matter rift!
Coop: Uh.... is that bad?

(A giant robot falls onto a local elementary school, completely crushing it.)
Group of kids: YAY!!!!

Jamie: Don't worry, Coop doesn't get sick, he just gets less hungry.

Jamie: Coop, you can't lose!  I've got numbers from green skinned girls!  Green skinned girls!!!

(Kiva explains how the REGIS robots use solar power and that they need to come up with a plan to cut off their energy supply.)
Coop: Oh, that's simple, we'll just wait till dark.
(pause)
Kiva: Or, we could come up with a plan that doesn't require waiting until we're LONG DEAD!

Now, sadly, like too many kickass TV shows, it was canceled after only TWO seasons, and it's not currently on DVD.  However, you can download it from Xbox Live or Itunes.  It's a great series, and I HIGHLY recommend it!
