I used to store my pot in a baby food jar.
Does that count?   TongueOut

Pretty much a given but:

Defective DVDs and CDs as coasters.

Use clothespins on chip bags too.

Hmmm...'off-label' uses for things: I have a lot of these, but most have to do with farm/horse applications.

Toothpaste as metal polish - ketchup for copper.
Pool noodles as 'bumpers' on sharp/hard edges.  Split them down one side and shove them on. Pipe insulators work too, in smaller areas.

A thin film of toothpaste on CDs or DVDs.  It fills in scratches.

I remember when people were using mane and tail shampoo for their own hair.

Indeed they do!  I recall when they began actually marketing Mane and Tail for that purpose...but it seems that did not last long.

WD40 removes chewing gum or tree sap from pet hair quite nicely; though shortening does just as well and is organic.
Bounce dryer sheets as insect repellent: just tuck one in your belt or pocket.
Avon's 'Skin So Soft' is a staple ingredient for many home-made bug sprays.

hmmm,

hubby uses football gloves (the tacky ones) as patrol gloves on duty (helps you grab people)

oil funnel (clean new one) to funnel oatmeal into baby bottles (perfect width)

plastic pickle jars(empty and cleaned) with screw tops to hold salt for your trunk in the winter (up here in NE)

dishwasher to clean your rubber car mats (don't put in on high temp!)

magic sponge to clean leather interior of car (works great....but may be an anticipated use...)

Sometimes, I'll cut an old soda bottle in half & use it for an oil or antifreeze funnel.
It's kinda handy if you like to see what you're doing.

I have used exposed x-ray film to make patterns for cookies: not cookie cutters, just flat templates to cut around.  Now I cut them out of those thin plastic cutting boards from the dollar store.

I put tennis balls on the bottom of the legs of the chair I sit on when I'm working on the computer.  That way, I can slide around without marring up the linoleum tiles.

I use a fork for a back scratcher.
I used to use it to pick dirt out from under my fingernails, but then my mom got me one of those teeny weeny little Swiss army knives with a nail file in it.
