I just remembered that a few days before I read that he had passed, I had a rather weird dream in which I took Mr Woodward and his wife Michelle to the Pretoria Church Street cemetery in which Harry "Breaker" Morant and his friend Lt Peter Handcock are buried, after their death by firing squad in 1902.

I showed the Woodwards the grave of Morant and Handcock (they are buried in the same grave) in the public section of the cemetery and Mr Woodward looked down at the grave, smiled at his wife and then at me. Then I woke up, wondering what the heck that was all about.

Now I know, unfortunately.  :bluesad:

I actually didn't start watching The Equalizer until it was in reruns in the late 90s, and I loved it. McCall is just the ultimate stone-cold badass, but with style and a good heart. Also a big fan of the original Wicker Man. Can't be completely sure, but my wife and I suspect the original inspiration for our daughter's name, Rowan, came from that movie.

I also thought Woodward was one of the best characters in Hot Fuzz, constantly watching the video monitors, obsessed with keeping the town free of street performers. "We'll be up to our balls in jugglers!"

Sad to see him go.
