Trying to recall the name of this great movie. The opening scene has a warrior on horseback tearing through the walls of a fortress to capture a stick of chalk. Anyone?

ah, you beat me to the punch, defintely sounds like Daywatch.  i think it's supposed to  a trilogy, but i haven't seen anything on the third part yet.  this trailer sounds like the scene you remembered.
