ok, this isn't exactly weird news but I didn't know where else to put it and was curious what y'all thought of this.

An enraged Highland Park, Michigan father is accused of killing his son - as he begged for his life - after learning the teen may have sexually abused a toddler.

Jamar Pinkney Sr., 37, irate over hearing his 15-year-old son Jamar Pinkney Jr. had sexual contact with a 3-year-old girl made the teen strip at gunpoint, marched him to a vacant lot and shot him to death despite pleas from the boy and his mother, a relative said.

Michigan authorities filed a first-degree murder charge Wednesday against Pinkney Sr. in his son's shooting death Monday.

I would, without hesitation, kill someone who molested one of my children but... killing my own child? I don't think so. I would turn them in but I wouldn't kill them. This seems so wrong to me.

That's one tough moral dilemma...

It is...  I don't think I could kill someone, even if they did molest someone else (even if that someone else was my own kid, of which I have none).

I mean, if the 15 year old kid did molest the little girl, how is it for the kids dad to be judge, jury, and executioner?  He's not God, and he's not the one who was molested.  Yes it is his son who was convicted, but I don't think the dad has the right to kill his son.  (I don't want to start a capitol punishment argument, but it's true.  IMO no one has the right to kill someone else.)

To call this father an animal is a compliment.  Self directed executions are cold-blooded, and this was not done in a moment's poor decision, but the perpetrator made sure his 15 year old victim was humiliated and knew his own father was going to kill him.  Do you think these two had a loving or abusive relationship all of the son's life?  Doesn't really matter.  Murder is murder.  I think the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, so however evil the 15 year old's crime, his Dad's is worse.

AH hit it on the head.  It is one thing to defend your own flesh and blood in  the heat of the moment, but to kill your own child in cold blood . . . on HEARSAY?  That's just sick.

"Sick" is an excuse, an explanation, the only thing "sick" here is that which is unproven: this father's soul.

What kills me is this part: after learning the teen may have sexually abused a toddler

I'd make a remark about being "innocent until proven guilty" but I'm sure any talk of the legality of judgment in the justice system would fall on deaf ears with this guy.

We live in an effed up world.

I don't see it as any kind of moral dilemma.  The father was 100% wrong to kill anyone just on a suspicion of molestation, with no chance fore the son to defend himself or clear his name.  Molestation is not even a capital offense.  Murder most certainly is.

It IS wrong to kill someone on suspicion. If the father turns out to be wrong, he deserves to rot in prison, or die in an electric chair.
But if the boy really had sexual contact with a 3 year old, then I can't feel sorry for him.

Normally I would agree with you. But I wonder why this father was so quick to kill his son. Most child molesters are made, not born. Was the father trying to keep the boy quiet?  And to strip him down, humiliate him, and then kill him seems so much more than "righteous" anger.

The kid confided in his mother what he had done, felt bad about it. There was a chance that with help he wouldn't be a danger to anyone. He didnt deserve to die, at the hands of his freaking father, like a dog. I hope the father rots in jail.

But I wonder why this father was so quick to kill his son.

Maybe he wasn't 'quick'; maybe this was a long time coming and this incident was the last straw.  We don't know the history.  Surely the father must have felt he had good reason to believe the son was guilty - and that he would continue.  In that case, perhaps the father saw it as his responsibility to put a stop to it.  All speculation: but we are all speculating and it is within the realm of possibility.

Sad all 'round.  There is not one person involved in this story who comes out better off or unscathed.
