- 'cause this looks pretty close to me: as long as they really do intend to follow through (that they do not believe they will ever be called upon to do so is irrelevant)  and from the 'clients' point of view: just one more form of 'insurance'?  A thing of beauty even if it still does manage to 'feel' a bit hinky.  It amuses me!

Hmm...  I'm guessing that it's more of a joke than a scam.  I hope that whoever made this doesn't expect it to work.  I mean people aren't that stupid.  Are they?

I read this  You've committed your life to Jesus. You know you're saved  and almost clicked out.  Im glad I kept reading. I don't think they will get much out of it, if they are serious.  non believers wont use their service and I dont see believers paying an atheist to do anything. shame really, sounds like a great idea.   TeddyR

He says it is not a scam - though it has been called so - and he had 100 paid clients as of January 4th.  The business was the subject of a half-page article in one of our major papers.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/its-the-rapture-what-to-do-when-rover-cant-come-over/article1417823/

Since the site went public in June, it has received 4,000 emails.  Some were amused, some angry: 85% from atheists (amused and/or volunteering), 10% from believers and 5% were 'genuine inquiries'.

I simply admire the elegance of the idea.

I have admire the balls it took to do it.

Still, nice to know the Christian religion puts Nature is utterly second to Man. "Sorry, Sparky, but we are being Saved, and you'll be eaten alive by the deranged Unsaved or by Demons. Well, gotta go."

I guess while we're on the topic of religion, does anyone know anything about Buddhism?  For the past three years I have been growing more and more weary of the Christian religion (organized religion, not so much the faith).  The thing that has interested me the most is Buddhism.  I've kinda had a good feeling about it.  Does anyone know anything about it.  (I don't want to start a flame war or anything like that.  If any of the mods want to delete my post, go right ahead.) Strange atheists, these people: they say that they're atheists but they know about the Rapture?  Question

To Spazzo: I had a friend who was a Buddist ~ he unfortunately passed away in September 2009. Nice guy, very chilled, a child of the 60's still being one in the noughties.

The best way to refute something is to know it well.  Some of the world's top demonologists are priests.

I always wondered why the font water started to bubble and smoke when they tried to baptize me in 1967. Now I know why.  Wink

Because my real name is Damien. Damien Thorn.  Buggedout Buggedout Wink

'Tried' because on 11 September 1967 (my birthday) there were approximately four hours of utter darkness across what was then Rhodesia. That was probably because I was born at 02h30 in the morning.  TeddyR Wink

I know a little about it, but you probably don't want to pick a new religion by asking on messageboards.  Wink  I, for one, will try to convert you to Zoroastarianism if given half the chance.

Here's a Basic Buddhism Guide I scanned that looked halfway decent to me.
