She kind of falls under the new gimmick pop angle out there now.  Dress funny, have little talent and people will buy your records. People will be saying "remember that Lady...something singer" ten years from now.

Prince, although he p!sses me off with his music politics, is an amazing musician.  He was huge in bringing funk to a new level in the 80s and 90s.  Plus he was never afraid to put sleaze into music.   Thumbup

I'm not really a Prince fan, but I agree that he's an amazing musician. It's interesting to compare him and Lady GaGa, because they both seem to rely on gimmick and "extramusical" factors - still, while GaGa seems to use gimmick as her primary vehicle, Prince just uses it to to enhance the Prince-experience. I mean, with Prince, I'm sure people will remember the beats, melodies, lyrics, whatever, while GaGa will be remembered for her stage antics, her dresses and her gimmicks and probably not so much for the music itself.

I liked Prince's early stuff, but then he got really into dance music and I lost interest.  I still haven't heard Lady GaGa or whatever.  I plan on missing her entirely if at all possible.

Sounds like a good plan ;-)

I'm gonna go against the grain around here.  I quite like Lady Gaga and not cause of her stage antics, but her music.

Granted, she doesn't compare to Prince on any level (well, she's hotter to look at, but we're talking talent.)  But, my friend told me she's got a huge gay following, apparently, and is being hailed as the 'new Madonna.'  So I think she'll be around for a while.

Plus, when you've got both Christopher Walken AND Weezer covering your songs on only two albums, you've made it.

She does seem to have more talent than a lot of her "colleagues", to be sure, but as for her music - I don't think there's anything special about it at all. I really think she's wasting what talent she has on low-quality, pointless, uninspiring pop music (just my opinion).

I'm ok with AC/DC but just ok.  I like some of the Bon Scott era stuff but just don't like Brian Johnson.  I will admit Young is a great guitar player.   I did a "KILL" against them early but figured they were going to "FAME" regardless.  Rev kept up the good fight regardless though.

As for The Eurythmics, decent pop band but pale by comparison to it's competition in the game.  Annie Lennox is an amazing vocalist though.

AC/DC certainly belongs in the hall of fame. A lot of their stuff's stimply great boogie hard rock.

But I think Eurythmics do not deserve being in the hall of shame. I think they're more than just a decent pop band. I think they're a quality pop band who are way superiort to a lot of the pop junk that the musi industry churns out these days.
