I've heard about this.  Rose McGowen as Sonja, right?  I just don't see her in that part.

It might be cheesy fun, but I doubt it.

Hardly a remake, Red Sonja was a comicbook character for many years before the 1985 movie...

Chyna as Red Sonja, Mark McGwire as Conan, Rush Limbaugh as that fat dude in the Don Quixote hat, and Gary Coleman as the little asian kid?

You'd hit just about every possible marketing cross-section with that crew - wrestling fans, sports fans, politicos, and 80s sitcom fans.  Twirling

hehe

If Gary Coleman was really smart he should remake the The Sinful Dwarf (1973) or make a smilar movie in a satire format (like: Austin Powers/I'm Gonna Git You Sucka)

If we're casting female wrestlers in the Red Sonja remake, I'd vote for TNA's Tara (formally WWE's Victoria)
She certainly has the phyisique to play a warrior woman.

I heard about that remake a long time ago.  I think McGowen would be a horrible choice.  Wouldn't mind seeing Shannen Doherty  in a warrior babe outfit though  TeddyR

And she can act, which I think would be a big plus in an acting role.

Since it's the 21st century, I hope they show more skin in this remake.

This is something of a tangent, but I'm becoming more and more concerned by Hollywood's lack of creativity in doing remakes, when there are so many original book series out there crying to be made into a film or films.

the Alex Rider series
either a continuation of the first film or a complete reboot

the Aremis Fowl series

the fantasy series Dragonlance
there was some idea of turning this series into a film or films, but there was no agreement, whether it should be animated or live action

the Japanese magna series Emma
they have done this as a anime series, or at least the first three books, but this series calls out for a live action film or films, or more likely, because of its length, almost 1400 pages, a TV miniseries in the mode of "Masterpiece Theater."

the fantasy series Shannara

And if they want to do a remake, they are remaking the wrong one. They should remake, all of which I've seen, . . .
Vampirella
Modesty Blaise
Barbarella

How they could suck all the sex out of the three sexiest women in the comics is beyond me.

Vampirella
Even with Roger Corman involved, was (imho) just bad and not in a good way.

Barbarella
When you walk the line between a sexy female, who is also comedic, you walk a fine line.
"Lair of the White Worm" could do it. "Barbarella" (IMHO) couldn't. Sometime ago there was an idea of doing a remake.  They should give that idea another go.

Modesty Blaise
I know what went wrong here. They di a camp version in the manner of James Bond, and they camped it up too much. They should have just done a straight version.

I must be the only person who enjoyed the original. It was good campy fun (it has both Grace Jones and Ernie Reyes Jr.!!!) and way better than that horrible Conan sequel Dino DeLaurentiis and Richard Fleischer made before.

Plus you gotta love that Arnold is called Kalidor this time, for fear of copyright infringement.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.
