Good thing, bad title.

"Slaughterhouse Five" (both the book and the movie) are pretty good, but the title makes it sound like the fifth instalment of a generic slasher.

"Mistress Masham's Repose" is about a little girl's adventures with some Lilliputians, and it would be recognized as a children's classic if it didn't sound like some kind of Lady Chatterly's Lover thing.

Octavia Butler wrote a great short story and went and called it "Bloodchild", which just sounds like a Christan heavy metal band or something.

Need better examples of this.

Leonard part 6, oh wait, bad concept and title  :tongueout:

Naked Massacre  (AKA Born For Hell).  The title makes it sound like a bad porno.  In truth it's not half bad. :teddyr:

Bad Taste  (The Peter Jackson film).  If I ever mention this name to somebody, they look at me like I'm crazy.  The movie is just pure entertainment.  If anything could be named Bad Taste it would probably be Pink Flamingos.  (Haven't seen it, but from the comments I've read, :buggedout:  )

There was an actual title of a film called "Pr*ck Up Your Ears" back in 1987.  It wasn't about ear f***ing but it sounded like it was..  :teddyr:
"O the legend they say, on a Valentine's Day, is a curse that'll live on and on.."

"Thriller: A Cruel Picture"........what a stupid title!  But I do like the alternate title "They Call Her One Eye."  I like the movie too.

"Eerie Midnight Horror Show".....another painfully dumb title.  The alternate title "The Sexorcist" is kind of dumb too, but at least it's in a so-dumb-it's-funny kind of way.  I like this movie also.

Mofo Rising

Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

My friend Ivan Hall's Kill & Kill Again ~ great film, stupid title. There be no killing in that film, sir. The bad guy gets fried, but he deserved it.
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

I Married a Monster From Outer Space is much better than one might expect given the title.

Really?  It is stronger than I thought it would be, but not bad?  If you like the Last House On The Left torture porn stuff, it is okay. The way they try to bring comparison and contrast to what happens in the film to the Vietnam War AND the political/religious killings in Belfast as a bit hard to swallow given the long, lingering shots of the guy slaughtering the girls in a very calculated fashion. Although, I did find the scene where he makes the aging whore dance at knife-point to be a bit funny, if only in a very sick way.

It Came From Outer Space- Sounds like an alien invasion plan, but it is NOT! the aliens accidentally crashed here  :buggedout:
yeah no.

I read the book a few years ago, and while taking it to work an older woman asked me if it was one of those "gross horror books."

The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-up Zombies (1964)

No, wait, that's a kick-ass title AND and kick-ass movie. Nevermind. Plus it's got the early sixties girls with the cruise-missiles for breasts.

The Burgomaster

* THERE WILL BE BLOOD sounds more like a SAW rip-off than an Oscar contender

* SORCERER is a pretty good remake of THE WAGES OF FEAR, but sounds more like a fantasy movie or a horror movie.  (In fact, THE WAGES OF FEAR sort of sounds like a horror movie now that I think of it . . . )

I always thought Phantasm sounded like a blending of the word phantom and orgasm, which should make it a ghost porno film, but maybe that's just my sick mind at work.
