Sir John had been around for years and wrote tons of TV themes that many people will be familiar with, in particular The Avengers. Again, another excellent musician and pioneer that has not been recognised by the media, with no news coverage here in the UK.

RIP

Sad.  When I heard he was a "jazz legend" I thought I might have him somewhere on CD as a sideman, but I don't think so.  I'm sure he's a British jazz legend.  I have heard some of his TV and movie themes, though, so he has touched my life in some way.  R.I.P.

Sir John composed the music for Cy Endfield's Sands of the Kalahari and will be sadly missed.  Bluesad

JOHN DANKWORTH also wrote the scores for SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING and DARLING among many others.  He was also married to CLEO LAINE
Good night JOHN, you did very well.
