April 4,2002 was the world premiere of Ted V. Mikel's latest B grade masterpiece "Mark Of The Astro Zombies",presented at the local city library by Mikels and his two production managers. Needless to say, this film is a real hoot: two groups of space aliens are at war(ala "Corpse Grinders 2"),with the bad one unleashing their own Astro Zombie army upon the unsuspecting locals of surburban Las Vegas, and kidnapping top scientists struck with the title Mark, while Part One's lead villain Tura Santana returns to sell a bogus A.Z. formula to the underworld, with both CIA agents and the good aliens out to stop them. Despite its many budget limitations(Mikels' apartment and office used as sets, and a budget that's a plus-size more than "Phantasm 4",Mikels still makes the movie rock with savvy directing, numerous cameos by local Vegas celebrities and locations,a gallon more gore than there was in "Resident Evil",a badly aging cast of genre starlets(Santana,Liz Renay,Brinke Stevens)who still have more talent and energy than the Josh Hartnesses,Leelee Sobieskis, and Chris Kleins that are out there, cameos by Shanti(Dr. Wendy Altumara,Mikel's spouse),Mikels, and John Carradine's head, and a strong sense of fun that makes you want to grab a beer and pizza slice, lay back, and wallow in all of the finest in supreme cheese cinema that this film heavily carries, and is mightily proud(and unashamed)of it. As for Mikels, his next movies are to be "Return of the Doll Squad"(with a black female cast),and "Little Green Men"(based around the masks of A.Z.'s makeup FX man)in the very near fututre.Ohter than that, see this flick when the chance comes around...you'll be glad that you did.
