Just found out that I'm going to have to work late for the third Friday in a row after one of my co-workers decided not to tell anyone the doctor had signed her off for Friday afternoon until she was walking out of the door. Oh well, at least my boss is decent enough to stay in with us when we have to stay late.

To keep myself amused I am taunting one of my English friends who lives on the south coast about how he is really French. Pretty much anything south of Birmingham is secretly French.

Since I am on my fourth triple whiskey so far tonight and it is not yet 5 in the PM please feel free to ignore any random drunken posts I make tonight. I just feel the need to get drunk for no other reason than it has been a while since I last did it.

With one eye on the Winter Storm Watch reports scrolling along the bottom of the screen, I just got done watching Young Sheldon, which tonight featured Sheldon exploring all religions, and I so wanted to reach through the TV back in time to eastern Texas 1989 and explain to him how that works.

That explanation being that while there is one giant all-powerful universe-creating God (also known as G-d), ranking someplace under this God are tons and tons of lesser gods, some of whom have authority over, say the Ganges River, or olive groves on Crete, or the alleys of Pittsburgh, or over various features of existence, like poetry, or foot fetishism, or storms, and some of these lesser gods, like Ahura-Mazda, Zeus, Odin, Ishtar, and L. Ron Hubbard, can actually be powerful in their own rights, throwing shade and smiting, but likewise doing mortals favors, too, like small lottery wins, and good hair days during prom season, but unlike the universe-creating eternal Big-G God, who had no beginning and will have no ending, the lesser gods need prayer and praise (and occasional human sacrifices) to grow strong, and when everyone stops believing in them, they crawl off to stand dormant in a cave, where some, like the mammoth-headed deity of the stone age Dnieper Valley, eventually petrify and die.

New gods also come into being all the time, spawned in human dreams, arising from need and attaching to heroic figures from legend. Hence Thor, Sylvanus, Gilgamesh, all existed at one time. Internet is now a god, by the way, though a bully and pimply-faced, as nascent gods tend to be for the first millennium, though he is especially powerful in our age, since every day billions make sacrifices of personal time to his altar, just by logging on. Time being, to quote Ben Franklin, the stuff of which life is made, so we are in fact one and all making ongoing human sacrifices to the god Internet, in hour increments. Possibly Facebook may arise as well, I would imagine, though MySpace is no doubt in that cave along with Netscape and Atari.

All this is true. I read it in a life-changing scriptural tome called American Gods, by the prophet Neil Gaiman.

Man young Sheldon Cooper doesn't know anything.

I dragged our mattress off our bed and pulled it downstairs. I have made a bed up in the living room for us to sleep in tonight and am considering a blanket fort.

Trying to get my desktop to reboot. System recovery didn't work. Trying a chkdsk repair that takes 3 hours and will probably produce no results.  Bluesad
