Hi,

Cant remember the name of this film -

Its about a young woman who wants to be in the movies. She auditions for a role and is chosen and spends time preparing for the role. What she doesnt know is that there is no film, the 'director' is about to murder his wife (i think) and its all one big setup. The heroine resembles the woman who is to be killed.

Thats about all i remember.

would appreciate a response...

Actually it makes sense although Melanie Griffith wasnt much of a heroine.  Smile

Nope...

Although, I bet not too many people has notice that the Craig Wasson's Vampire make-up is simular to Holly [sorry I cannot find a pic of Craig Wasson as a vampire]

Sometimes when I watch the movie it seems to me that Brian De Palma was trying to cast Billy Idol...

Sorry, wasnt Body Double either...

The plot to kill the wife is involves a doctor or a psychiatrist, a woman - who holds the audition to find the lookalike pretending to be a director...

Hi,

No, not Special Effects either.. though a couple of months ago I was trying the remember that particular name and found it here :)

The protagonist is just a regular looking-for-work actress - oh, there is this bit where the 'director' (psychiatrist) takes her to stay at this rather large house for a few days to rehearse her lines

i saw this film when i was about 12 or 13 and the only face i can remember vaguely is that of the psychiatrist who looks a bit like Geraldine James. This was a Hollywood film though.

and the wife, when she is murdered, is wearing a bright red dress

Honestly, the movie sounded like Dead of Winter and I looked for movies that seemed similar to it and your discription help weed out the films...

I have not seen Lies and happy to find a trailer. (truthfully I didnt even know Lies existed until last night) Lies does look interesting so I might try to pick up a copy in the future.

It doesnt seem that Lies is on DVD [or netflix] so you might have to buy a VHS (Ebay/Amazon) or find somebody that can transfer movies onto DVD... :)
