I'm hoping someone knows this film, the idea is similar to the series Life On Mars but this was a TV film that came out in the late 70's/early 80's, its made in England and in it there is a small time crook from the 70's/80's who gets transported back to the 60's while a small time crook from the 60's gets transported forward to the 70'/80's, sorry if its vague but that's all i have,oh and i remember one scene where the (lets say 80's) guy who is in the 60's scares the hell out of the police with his violence.

Time After Time mayhaps? Did the plot involve Jack the Ripper at all?

It's definitely not Time After Time, i've got that, in the film i'm looking for, it all takes place in the respective police stations, another part i remember is, in the 60's (where the 80's guy is stuck) the police offer him a cup of tea and he throws it across the room, and in the 80's (where the 60's guy is) he asks for a cup of tea and gets a slapping from the police!

OK,the search is off, it was a BBC2 play called "The Black and Blue Lamp", it was made in 1988 (sorry my date was to early) and it was based on the English classic "The Blue Lamp". Thanks for trying anyway.
