I posted this as a separate topic because the previous one dealt with a "rumored" project.  It's no longer a rumor, apparently.

Legendary intends to approach the film and its characters in the most authentic manner possible.

So, they're saying this won't be another Crash of the Titans?  (Based on what I'm hearing about the movie, anyway)

These guys did do the new Batman movies, and did a pretty damn good job with them.  They were also associated with Watchmen, which was very true to the original.  However, I'm a skeptic.  Show me the money.  So many people make claims that movies and games will turn out a certain way and then POOF!  Turns into a disaster.

The company will, in the near future, announce a filmmaker to helm the film for an intended 2012 release.

If I hear any of the following names, I will shoot someone:  Michael Bay, Paul WS Anderson, Roland Emmerich.  I doubt they'll go with the third, especially seeing how he horribly raped the last American remake.

In addition to Legendary, producers on the new film will be Dan Lin, Roy Lee and Brian Rogers. Yoshimitsu Banno, Kenji Okuhira and Doug Davison will Executive Produce.

Yoshimitsu "Yeah, I directed Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster" Banno.  At least we're getting someone with prior Godzilla making knowledge.  I don't recognize the other names, but I'm sure IMDbing or Googling them would show me a little more.

I have about moderate hopes for this film.  US has been given one last shot at redemption.  I'm hoping to see a Godzilla movie that will make us all forget about that horrible Disasterzilla movie.

I came here to post this. Well I do not have high hopes at all BUT I felt a slight flicker when I saw Banno's name. I actually love Godzilla vs Hedorah and though Tanaka was too hard on the guy.

Honestly, if it's better than the RE version of the film, I'll be pleased.  They don't have far to go there.

I have always said that I would love to see what Toho could do in terms of making a true Godzilla picture but with the financial and technological backing of a major Hollywood studio.

This appears to be about as close as we're going to get to that.
