I did think this was a good film, but that's not why I'm posting about it. I was reading today that the film was based on the play "The Madness of King George III," because the subject of the film was King George "the third." Supposedly, the rumor was that the "III" was removed for the film because the director felt American audiences would be confused thinking it was a sequel. The director refuted that saying it was because, since American's have never had royalty, it was best to just concentrate on the story being about a king rather than focusing on royal lineage. I don't buy that a bit. This made me laugh at first, then it made me cringe because in reality I think this would be a problem for many Americans, and suggests the stereotype of Americans as provincial and uneducated. This bothers me.

Not the most interesting thread in the world perhaps, but I felt inclined to post about it.

I liked the movie, and I remember hearing Paul Harvey talk about a teenager in the test screening audience, when it was still THMoKGIII.  Someone asked how he liked it, and he said -

"It was kinda hard to follow - I didn't see the first two!" TeddyR

And you know if Paul said it, it was true!

I like this movie as well.  It always cracks me up to think of the doctor who is obsessed with analyzing the King's bowel movements.

An interesting film which I liked when I saw it many years ago, when new.
