1933 Kong all the way, baby.  Monster movie perfection.  1976 Kong is simply a bad movie.  For everything good about 2005 Kong, there was something else equally bad if not worse to counteract it.

I'm with ya on the 70's Kong, but I loved the 2005 version.  The giant worms on the island . . . EEEEWWW!!!! TeddyR Buggedout

From what I've seen, I'm in a pretty clear minority in preferring the new one (though I love the original too).  I can't really place my finger on it exactly, but I just love the new one.  I think a lot of it is I loved the action scenes and, I'm not really sure why, but the tear jerking type scenes worked very well for me.  Just struck the right chord somehow.

It kind of reminds me of how some talk about how good Titanic is, but I strongly disagree with them.
