Here's a list of what Photography Schools Online calls the 30 photo that changed the world:

Some are inspirational, some are horrific, but all are embedded in our psyche:

EDIT: This is not one of them:

Really?  It is sure changed the b-movie world in some way.   TeddyR

I've seen a lot of those photos and yes, they have really changed the world a lot and have left a huge impact on everyone.  The Birmingham beatings, The Terror of War, and Lynching photos are the most powerful to me though.

We live in quite an interesting age. You can tell someone's sexual orientation and level of education from just their interests.

Very cool.  Thanks for posting.  I'm surprised the photo of Jack Ruby gunning down Lee Harvey Oswald did not make the list.

Agreed, or the photo of a mortally wounded Bobby Kennedy on the floor with the busboy or Martin L. King, Jr's aids pointing toward the gunshots from the balcony in Memphis.

Pretty good list, though short.

You could probably put any 30 of Ansel Adam's work on such a list.  His photographs are mesmerizing and spiritual.

I think of all of them, #11 is my favorite (Earth as seen from the moon).  Before I looked at the list, I hoped it would be on there.

I feared #1 would be on the list.  I hate that photo and cannot look at it.  But alas, it's ugliness is its importance.

Finally, interesting story about #3.  My Dad was a juvenile officer in Dade County, Florida at the time of the Kent State shootings.  That girl was a "missing person" from one of his schools and when he saw that picture, he knew where to start looking for her.  She was a runaway.  I don't recall if he ever actually found her.

Maybe one of us (or a lot of us) should compile list of the 30 still screens that changed b-movies.  Although, seeing a still shot of a splinter going into a fake eye isn't going to go over well with many folks.
