That's right kids, Del Toro quits the production of the Hobbit citing delays in production.

Man, that sucks...

Wonder who will be able to step into the role?  It seems like it's become an all-consuming monster!  Hopefully alot of his pre-production ideas will be left into the product as the best part of Del Toro would no doubt have been the character and creature designs...

This stinks, I was looking forward to seeing his take on things.  He apparently is still involved in the scripting.   He had a lot other projects hanging out there and  The Hobbit  is tied up in all the MGM mess  (the next Bond movie is on hold because of  this too).

Don't know who they can get ,  the rumor before delToro got the job was that Sam Raimi was trying for it.

Why would Benicio Del Toro play a hobbit in the first place. Sure he's doing really risky stuff by playing Che Guevara and a Werewolf, but a hobbit come on!

You know I'm joking right!?

One name that has been mentioned is Peter Jackson's. He has already directed "The Lord of the Rings," and he's already the executive producer for "The Hobbit," which by the way will be divided into two parts. The first part being released in 2012, and the second part being released in 2013.
