Indiana Jones & The Knock-offs from Hell!
Swamp Thing:
How good is the Indiana Jones knock-off sub-genre! Anyone know any others than what I have mentioned below? I know the character Quatermain was around before Indiana Jones, but the King Solomon's Mines and Lost City movies came out after Indiana Jones and were riding on the success of that franchise. You will notice quite a few Italian ones. I like them, they are really bad!
Allan Quatermain and the Temple of Skulls (2008)
Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold (1986)
Ark of the Sun God (1983)
Bloodstone (1988)
Firewalker (1986)
High Adventure (2001)
High Road To China (1983)
Hunt for the Golden Scorpion (1991)
Hunters of the Golden Cobra (1982)
Jungle Raiders (1985)
King Solomon's Mines (1985)
King Solomon's Mines (2004)
Lost Treasure of the Maya (2008)
Mines of Kilimanjaro (1986)
River of Death (1989)
Romancing The Stone (1984)
The Diamond of Jeru (2001)
The Further Adventures of Tennessee Buck (1988)
The Jewel of the Nile (1985)
The Mummy (1999)
The Mummy Returns (2001)
The Treasure of the White Goddess (1983)
The Treasure of the Amazon (1985)

Vik:
The Mummy is a remake from the 1933 movie.
claws:
I would probably add Jake Speed (1986) to the list.
Swamp Thing:
Yeah, The Mummy is 'remake' of the The Mummy from 1931 but the look of Brendan Fraser's character is a blatant rip-off of Indy. Its like when Stephen Sommers pitched the movie to the studio he said "I want to make The Mummy meets Indiana Jones". And then to top it off he makes The Mummy Returns which rips-off scenes from Raiders of the Lost Ark and Temple of Doom. The scene where Rick and Eve find the bracelet of Anubis is exactly like the scene where Indy finds the Golden Idol in Raiders, where as soon they pick up the artifact the ceiling etc starts caving in. And also the scene where the water bursts through the pyramid walls is just like the scene in Temple of Doom where they are on the mine cart and the flood of water is chasing them. And the fiery pit in the Oasis of Ahm Shere is just like the fiery pit in Temple of Doom. But the main giveaway is the overall look and tone of the inside of the pyramids, its very similar to the look and tone of the Thuggee temple from Temple of Doom.
Skull:
Agree that the Mummy was supose to be a remake to the original but its really a rip off to the Indiana Jones...
Although I swear Indiana Jones was also a rip off from several Asian *giant* horror monster movie in the 1960's to the 1970's although they didnt do many stunts, typically there is an asian character dressed like Indiana Jones as they explore thru the jungle and find little girls, an egg, killer mushrooms, lost satellite or whatever. Although typically they would also be the character that most likely turn on the party first. (sorry movies escape me currently but those really big fans to such films could list them)
Although... I think the asian insperation was based on King Kong and Son of King Kong (from the 1930's)
And I wouldnt be to surprised that actual Indiana Jones characters was also inspired from King Kong.
