First off, it's nice to be back after 2 weeks of no internet access (my service provider screwed up a work order).

While I was away, though, I kind of realized something. Many parts of the internet, or at least the parts I frequent, have become really bitter and negative. Yeah, snark's kind of fun, but there's a point where you cross the line between merely poking fun at something and coming off as believing that everything is below you. Unfortunately, it's very difficult to change the opinions of a small group, to say nothing of a large section of the internet. Even worse is that the longer you stick with a group, the more likely you are to adopt their opinions. So, I've decided to pull up my anchor and leave some of the areas I used to frequent behind for the sake of actually enjoying things on my own terms.

This site is an exception. This is one of the few review sites I've come across that still celebrates the fun and good movies while giving the bad ones their just desserts; one of the few that still says "Hey, there's crap out there and it's fun to make fun of crap, but let's enjoy the good stuff, too!" This is one of the increasingly rare review sites that actually understands what it means to review. You guys on the forum are awesome, too. It's nice to see someplace online where it's still safe to disagree with other forumites and even the moderater without getting banned or ostracized.

Nice to have you back here.  Smile

I realized long ago that I have a family here and that everyone does give a damn about the other person here. This is a truly unique website and a unique online community, run by an amazing person. Of course, there is that serious problem concerning that crazy South African and his filthy underpants obsession, but that is another story entirely.  Buggedout Buggedout Wink

I've noticed the exact same thing Gravekeeper.  On so many sites, even if you're in 90% agreement with someone, along comes some know-it-all with an extremely high opinion of themselves to set you straight on your ignorance of the other 10%  Lookingup  That just gets so tiresome.  This place is awesome - one person can love a movie, another can hate it, and they can have a good laugh over it.  That's the way friends act towards each other, and it's a pretty rare thing on the internet.  Andrew has really given us a fantastic place here  Thumbup
