10 Worst Comic Book movies

I haven't seen any of these movies.  Should I?

To answer your question, nope.  Do not even bother with these movies.

3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991)... This one anger's me because the movie was written by b***hing mothers that has never seen or read the comic book and didnt like the violence in the first film. WOW, when I was watching the making of the film and the filmmakers explaining why the change... my mouth hit the floor.

Going to have to disagree here.  TMNT III is more deserving of that spot.

On the list in general, I'm going to have to call crap on it since it doesn't have Lady Death or The Spirit anywhere.

Not sure why APPLESEED shouldn't count because it's based on a manga... how is a manga different from a comic book or graphic novel?  They explicitly say manga's count in the intro.

I assume Yu-gi-oh must have been a manga before it was a card game.  Who knew?  Still, I agree that one probably shouldn't count, because the game took on a life of its own and the movie was clearly inspired by the game.

If you take out YU-GI-OH the next lowest rated on the list would be GARFIELD: A TAIL OF TWO KITTIES.

SUPERMAN IV, CATWOMAN and BATMAN & ROBIN just missed the bottom 10, they were all bottom 20. 

It hard for me to believe that Superman IV or Batman & Robin cannot make the top 10 worst superhero list... Although... I hold big budget films/or movies with good actors at a higher standard... They shouldnt suck! [Superman IV and Batman & Robin has no excuse]

Catwoman... When I seen it, the movie seemed like a typical comic book hero movie, it didnt make me feel that I'm loosing braincells nor did it made me upset... That could be because I never actually cared about the character or that catwoman was a second rate superhero [like Daredevil (2003)] and I wasnt expecting this to be something like Spiderman or Batman. Personally I'm not sure if the Razzie was generated to get people to see Catwoman or that the Feminist just dont like the idea of a sexy superhero.

lol... I kind of like TMNT 3..

anyway what ruined part 2 for me is knowing they complied with a bunch of mothers that never seen the comic and thought the series was a toy generated series.

Tank girl was a lot better than most people give it credit for.
I think it captured the chaos of the comic pretty well, it just needed a better budget.

Dredd had the opposite problem, they had the budget but not the character. I did really enjoy the first 15 mins, but once his helmet comes off, that ain't Dredd. And that was just the start of the problems...
As a sci-fi action film, I can enjoy Dredd just fine.
I think I was lucky that I saw the film as a kid, before I read the comics. If I was a Dredd fan before I saw the film, I would've been very, very disappointed.

I think you should take out Supergirl and put in Punisher War Zone.
Supergirl is a great fantasy flick.

lol... I was trying to be silly...

Although I do remember owning a Return of the Jedi comicbook about a month or 2 before the movie hit the shows. I know it's not a movie based on a comic book but they do sell comic books based on the movie sometimes a few months early to push the hype and therefore they can be considered movies based on comics since they are first... although in reality its not.

I choose to pick superheros since I known they as established themselves as comic book characters and the movies are based upon the comic book.

Well I personally think they've left some off the list...where's Captain America (1990)? Honestly I think most of the TV films are worst or at least rival to anything on that list - "The Incredible Hulk Returns", "Death of the Incredible Hulk", "Trial of the Incredible Hulk", "Captain America" (w/Reb Brown), "Captain America 2: Death Too Soon" (w/ Reb Brown and Christopher Lee!), "Doctor Strange" and the couple of TV films edited from the 1970s "Spider-Man" TV series - that said I have an amazing high tolerance for superhero films - I think the worst should probably be STEEL though..I think I'm likely in agreement with that. I especially hate too though when they severly change an original character as they did with CATWOMAN and also I'd argue BARB WIRE. That said, of those mentioned, I did particularly like at least on a guilty pleasure level - JUDGE DREDD, THE PHANTOM, TMNT II, SUPERMAN IV, SUPERGIRL and RETURN OF THE SWAMP THING. Heck I even recall enjoying TMNT III?! I also like practically every TV Movie I mentioned above. I even liked CAPTAIN AMERICA (1990) on some level and the unreleased FANTASTIC FOUR 1990s film.

You must see it retro; it's a fun movie!

So what makes a movie based on a comic book 'bad': is it bad if it fails to be a true representation of the comic, or is it bad if it is simply a bad movie?  I have no idea what Tank Girl was like in print, but the movie in itself was enjoyable.
