Aw, here I was so excited about a new cheese, and it turns out to be something gross and insane.

And I fail to see the point, other than grabbing attention. I'm pretty sure processing breast milk in any way is going to degrade its nutritional value, and that's the whole point of breast feeding - it's fresh and full of all the right nutrients. Don't make cheese out of it.

And feeding it to adults? That is just so wrong. I'll eat cheese from cow, goat or sheep milk, but I am not eating anything secreted from another person's body. I can't imagine standing there nibbling on some of this on a cracker and giving my opinion to the woman who's t*ts it came out of. Buggedout I just hope they don't go looking for taste treats in any other orifices. "My my, this is good bread, and you say you grew the yeast yourself?"

I don't understand why people think drinking human breast milk is gross but don't bat an eye at drinking a cow's breast milk.

Ah, that'll be my lesson for the day.

Don't make cheese...out of...breast...milk...

Good.
Got that written down.

What am I supposed to do with this jug of boob juice I bought now that I can't make cheese out of it ?  TeddyR

I think it's an instinctive thing. We can catch a lot more diseases from humans than we can from animals. Many diseases are transmitted by human bodily fluids, so we are grossed out by pee and sweat and blood and spit and snot. Milk, although it is natural for a baby, just falls into the category of stuff that comes out of your body where adults are concerned.

Or maybe it's an intimacy thing. Can't say for sure. Might be just that since it's OK to eat a cow's flesh, it is by extension acceptable to eat other things from a cow. That could be it, because the list of animals who's milk I'd drink is pretty much the same as animals I'd eat. Cows, goats, sheep. Not pigs though, but they aren't really suitable for milking. Animals I would be appalled at the thought of eating - dogs, cats, etc. - are also animals whose milk I would cringe at drinking. It might also be that because cows produce such a surplus of milk, it just made sense at some point in history to start using it as a food source. Milking women as a general source of food has a lot of things against it in the way of social mores and plain old practicality.

Yeah.  It is important to note here that most people wouldn't eat human flesh either.  Then again, people out there do cook human placentas and what have you...

I'd be willing to try human cheese at some point, but I should confess I've also always been curious about what human meat would taste like.  Probably a lot like pork, considering how similar humans are to them physically.

From my understanding the intent of breast feeding is transfering germs so the baby can build its defenses.

It's antibodies, not germs.. didn't you learn anything from that 4-hour class?  Anyway, it's still gross, I don't want some other woman's cooties.

Yep, antibodies. And it's got nutrition tailor-made for a human infant, all of which is compromised by making it into cheese. But of course, infants can't eat cheese anyway, which is why this is so warped. Taking something for infants and making something they can't eat out of it.

I still say breast milk is great stuff for babies, but I'm pretty sure most adults are going to be grossed out by the thought of eating something secreted by someone else's glands. A few might like it a little too much, but that's a whole other conversation. TeddyR

Another thing.. the man says his wife had an "overabundance" of breastmilk.. having nursed myself and being best friends with a lactation consultant, I find that hard to believe.  If you have more than you need right now, you freeze it for later, if you can store enough of it, consider yourself lucky and go on a vacation, and it can be donated... do anything with it except make cheese... eww.
