I just finished watching this movie. I really enjoyed it. I don't usually like Steve Carell but he did a good job of playing a schmuck. It's not as funny as, say, Trading Places, but it was enjoyable and I laughed quite often throughout the movie.
I kept expecting the dinner to be the biggest part of the story but it only took up about 15 mins towards the end. Considering the story was quite solid before that I didn't mind the dinner being such a small part. Paul Rudd plays the defeated put-upon guy very well and was a great foil to Carell's craziness. The other characters that popped in and out of the story were well done (eg psychotic Darla) and not at all unbelieveable. In fact, Darla eerily reminded me of my own psycho sister that I don't speak to any more
Well done, Lucy Punch
I would recommend it to others as a pleasant waste of time. If the DVD price is $12 or
lower I'd buy it, otherwise it's not enough of a drawcard for me to pay any more.
Overall I would give it 3 stars out of 5.
