3mn, your comment about rape/incest/abuse is a telling one, and it is the most commonly used argument for abortion.  The thing is, according to whose statistics you listen to, only about 1 - 5 % of all abortions are due to those circumstances.  The rest are purely elective.

One reason I have very strong opinions about this is because, in 1963, a 16 year old in Fort Worth, TX got pregnant.  Aobrtion was illegal then, but still available if you knew who to ask.  Her parents were fairly well to do, and probably could have made the arrangements.  They and their daughter both knew that she was too young and immature to bear a child.  So they went to the Edna Gladney adoption center and arranged to have the child, a little girl, delivered there and given up for adoption to a loving Christian family.  She was born in January of 1964.


21 years later I married her.
