I've not seen the original.  Sadly, a bit before my time.  Still, I've always heard amazing things about the film.  Maybe I'll see about "obtaining" a copy soon.

As for the remake, I'm looking forward to it. Guillermo Del Toro is producing it.  For those who saw "The Orphanage", thats a great thing.  Guillermo takes a big role in the production of films he's involved in.  I have a feeling this remake will be superb, atmospheric, and creepy.  I'm looking forward to it.
