That was one of my favorite 80's monster movies. It's a good mix of scares and laughs.

I love this movie, there is so much hate for it because it's a "special effects" movie. Well duh, a great idea tried with advanced special effects, why hate?

The problems with the new blob were that in the most part the people who died the most horrible, terrifying, grotesque, prolonged and painful deaths were the innocent people and the  bad people seemed to die a lot quicker and less horribly.

The old man, the kid in the doc's office, the kindly waitress, the projectionist and the boy in the sewer died the worst, longest deaths.

The evil scientist who created the blob and the colonel with him who sealed in several people to be eaten by it died fairly quicker and less prolonged, horrible deaths.

Kind of an unpleasant asymmetry there. I'd have liked to see the scientist and the colonel suffer as much or more than the innocent people did.
