I haven't seen any "What movies do you want remade" threads lately, but I'm sure there have been....some.

Well, here's another! BounceGiggle

There are a few movies I'd like to see remade, more or less.

"Zardoz" had some great ideas and high ambitions, but was hampered by a tiny budget that sean connery ate a lot of, and limited effects of the day. A good remake by some hardcore SF writers and directors could rock.

"THX-1138" was a great movie in it's day and showed what lucas could do before he became so swollen with arrogance he turned into a galaxy sized hole, and I don't mean a black hole. Given the trend in america towards conformity and with corporations taking more and more control of peoples lives off and on the job, a remake could be timely.

I'm generally anti-remake, but I might overlook it for THX-1138.

I've always thought the mid-70's made-for-tv movie Bad Ronald would be a smart remake since it's a good creepy movie that nobody's ever heard of, except for some folks here, of course.

On the other hand, Russell Brand's remake of Arthur is now a reality and moving into production soon. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Zardoz could be remade...

I do like THX-1138 maybe because the cops reminds me of The Micronauts.

I would like to see a Mad Max remake... or something that actually fits between the first and second movie, although I would like to see a new rewrite of Mad Max 3 (I dont like it)

I'm getting really tired of waiting for Demon Seed 2 so I'm ok for a remake on Demon Seed.

Deadly Eyes... because the movie sucked and its nothing like the novel [The Rats ~ James Herbert]... :)

I'd like to see The Spirit remade. It was awful, but it had so much potential!

I've heard that someone is thinking about remaking Deathwish. That could be cool, especially if they cast it right.

I'd also like to see a big budget, all-star remake of Earthquake.

I watched Cutter's Way recently and while I don't think it needs to be remade at all I would like to see what a good director and cast could do to update it.

A friend told me that Jaws is being remade. Assuming he's not pulling my leg....ok I guess.

It seems a little crazy to remake something that good unless you're going to make something radically different. Unless you just want to rake in the bucks. I understand that part of show business is the business side, but there wouldn't be good movies to mine if someone else hadn't taken a chance on making a genuine, original good movie.

Maybe in this one Bruce the Shark will be a pouty teenage vampire shark that sparkles when he's out of the water. And maybe he'll have a laser on his friggin' head. Thumbup

There's a few that could prove interesting but I'd be afraid they'd go too CGI these days and so much tends to get lost with that. Anyways I was thinking:

The Shadow: I actually liked the 1990s film but I'd like to see more films featuring these classic cool character.

Wolf Larsen and the Sea Wolf: I'd like to see a modern take on this often filmed story. They don't do enough seafaring adventure films these days.

Explorers: I loved the way the old film opened but hated the ending. Might have been nice to see a less comedic alien finale.

Quatermass: actually I'd like to see a brand new film take on the classic British character from Britain.

And count me as one of those folks. I remember seeing it many times on ABC. Save for the radically different situation of the main character, the film reminds me of Klaus Kinski's Crawlspace[/n] with regard to where Ronald's character winds up living later on.

Death Ship popped into my head for whatever reason.  Question Actually, and I apologise to Andrew, I quite enjoyed that one, and on second thought, I prefer it not to be remade. I gotta say, I dig big ol' Georgie. I wish I had an explaination for that.  Smile
I should've posted that in the "movies people think you're weird for liking " thread, I guess.
