Ed, Ego and Superego

I caught this last weekend on TV.  I saw it in 1993 or so,  but I didn't recall anything beyond the waving pineal glands.  Aside from the Lofecraftian backstory, it was just a 1980's B-movie, and silly to boot.   I was OK up to until the death bugs ate the cop, and then they HAD to do the fake chewed corpse on the ground, with the actor's real head sticking up through a hole in the floor looking at his gutted  body (a la kiddie halloween party).  That was too silly even for me.

I love this movie. It's campy but great. Has a Re-Animator vibe going. Definitely thumbs up from me

I loved ReAnimator, and used to like this.   But my re-viewing years later I enjoyed it much less.  The sheer 80's-ness just grated on me.  But I really love Jeffry Coombs in anything.

I'd like to see an expert review done of it I must say.  Maybe I was having an off night.

I get a kick out of this one, and there are some moments that just make me laugh.

From Beyond is also among the movies with scenes that make me hungry. It's when Bubba cooks up that pot of chicken and dumplings. It looks so good, and he serves it up with such enthusiasm.

I think it's time I went home for dinner. :teddyr:

I need to watch this one again. I didn't watch neither this one nor "Re-animator" until I was nearly 30. I can't say I liked any of them much. I'm sure I would have loved them when I was on my teens, though. I remember thinking "From beyond" was marinally the better of the two, if only because the story was more intriguing.

And well, it also has Barbara Crampton in kinky underwear.
Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

And Hey! Barbara Crampton is in it as well! :hot:

And when he shall die
Take him and cut him into little stars,
And he will make the face of heaven so fine
That all the world will be in love with night,
And pay no worship to the garish sun.

You have reopened my (third) eyes to the charms of this movie.  What a gif!
