I noticed this for the first time last year:

No scary movies during October (my October movie thread last year failed miserably because of no interest).
No movies on Halloween.
Not even one tiny Jack-o'-lantern gif on the main page to indicate that it's 'that time' again.

From all the movie boards I frequent on a regular basis, this was the only place pretty much ignoring Halloween (except for maybe one obligatory costume thread) and the fun tradition of watching ghoulish flicks especially throughout October.

Here's hoping for a change this October  Wink

I dunno...I think many of us watch horror movies throughout the year. For me, personally, almost every day is Halloween. I just get to go outside and even into stores in masks and such on the 31st and not get arrested for it.

Andrew does horror movie reviews throughout the year, too. I don't think him doing a string of horror movies in October would be much of a change in routine. Throw in a little jack-o-lantern and the "normal" around here becomes everyone else's "Halloween special."

Eh, I'm not American so its no fuss to me.  We usually get plenty of action on the boards though at that time, so you can get the halloween spirit there I suppose!  I imagine its too much of a pain to reformat the homepage for the sake of one night.

Andrew is welcome to use a picture of me in my infamous underpants for Halloween in order to 'decorate' the site: that should make for a truly horror-filled Halloween for everyone.  Buggedout Buggedout Wink

I have no clue about reformatting and how much pain would be involved. I always thought it was simple because I've seen many boards doing it all October long, not only on Halloween.

Maybe asking for a Jack-o'-lantern gif is a little too much but that wasn't really the point anyway. Pre-Halloween activities at other forums I post got me excited already thus the reason for the thread here.

I think we'd need to set up one of those ineffective "confirm your age to access the site" things. Them underpants are NOT suitable for virgin eyes!

Come to think of it, I don't think they're suitable for experienced eyes, either. Or noses.

In my case, it might be simply a lack of time and setting priorities for things.  We tend to do a lot for Halloween around the house, with a graveyard, making costumes for the kids (Katie built the wagon into Lightning McQueen one year with just cardboard and paint), and usually a family get together at the house.

I also haven't worried too much about doing horror films for Halloween, because every site is doing them.  Last year I (and some friend sites) did run a series of reviews called "October Monster Mayhem" that went through the month of October:

There's nothing saying I can't review a scary movie this Halloween, but let me think on what to review.  Sometimes a bad scary movie is more like a comedy than a horror...

Halloween is my Christmas.  I have to admit before Chiller TV and other movies On Demand it was more magical for me.  You'd have to wait until October to get some decent TV.  Now its kind of like "meh, nothing I can't catch on normal TV".  I personally watch horror year round.

Sorry, I didn't mean the reviews. What I meant was folks at the forum appearing to be not very much interested in watching horror movies especially in October. Or at least that was the impression I got based on replies in my October/Halloween movie thread from last year.

Well, I for one am doing something about it!

... Hey, it's a start.   I mean, at the very least we can get some Halloween themed avatars up around here.

I got into the Halloween spirit and I'll be into it this year as well on the site.  All my YouTubes of the Day will be related to horror things and my Song of the Day will be some sort of song about horror or paranioa in October.

If there is a Halloween topic this year, I'll be involved.

A few years ago I was sooooo into Halloween.  The weather was cold and gloomy, I had the Halloween movie schedules on TV printed out and ready to go, I watched horror DVD's for a month beforehand.  I dunno, just haven't been able to get into it lately.  I watch horror movies all year 'round, the stuff on TV around Halloween is either repeats or else not worth watching in the first place.  About all I do is pull out Sorority House Massacre 2:  Nighty Nightmare DVD and watch it on the big night.

I'll try to make a better effort this year  TeddyR
