I actually got the recipe from my mother who I think stole it from Betty Crocker.  She'll probably never admit that though.  Enjoy and make sure Skull don't eat them all on you.  Wink

TeddyR That sounds great, DS: I just gave that recipe to my mom.  Smile

Chocolate chip
I'm impartial to those large, soft, individually wrapped kind one tends to find at the checkout counter that were prepared (allegedly) within the previous twenty-four hours.

Tonight, it's WaWa... Well, after I finish the hoagie & soup.

It's a toss up between Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip (the big soft kind).

I love all cookies and I'm sure I've put several Girl Scout Troops and all Mrs. Field's children through college with my love of their stuff but the one cookie I always return to again and again is the good old fashioned oatmeal cookie with raisins. Warm from the oven it can stand up to any comers.

The Girl Scouts' Thin Mints.

There are now many variations of this cookie available year round at grocery stores, but they are just not quite the same!

How can two people agree so much on bad movies, but disagree so much on cookies?  I can't stand Thin Mints, though maybe my dislike of them is as much related to my dislike their guilt-tripping little salespeople as to the cookie itself.

I'm not that much of a cookie guy, but my favorite cookies are fresh, hot ones---Toll House chocolate chip being at the top of the list (but peanut butter is a close second).  The only ones I can stand to eat cold are oatmeal raisin, when they have a nice chewy consistency.  And I could go a lifetime without eating store-bought cookies out of a bag.

I usually buy mine from the semi anonymous list left in the office - much less guilt and absolutely no contact with pushy scouts involved.   Thumbup

Back in the late 80s there was a place called "California Cookies" located overseas on U.S. Military bases in Germany. They made the best cookies ever. My favorite: Peanut Butter with White Chocolate Chips. They were big, fresh from the oven and extra-chewy. Sadly "California Cookies" closed shop after only 18 months. Word had it that one night the manager/owner took all the money and bailed without paying his employees. I was super-disappointed for the longest time. Never had better cookies before and after.

My Mom bakes lots of great cookies especially around Christmas. I try to keep it limited but I love the following: Chocolate Marshmallow logs, Peanut Butter Chocolate Covered Rice Krispie Squares, Plain Rice Krispie squares, Date suares, coconut covered chocolate balls and finally Chocolate chip cookies.

Linzer tarts, but only if the rasberry filling is really good ... and the cookie part is not mushy or soft.
