The other day I listened to a podcast of an old Great Gildersleeve episode. It's an Olde Tyme Radio Show from the 40's. I used to think these shows were quaint, slow and clunky but I actually liked this one and now I find myself listening to them more and more. Is this a sign of something? Is Gildersleeve a "Gateway" show that will lead to Fibber McGee or The Shadow? Should I be worried? And does anyone else like thse shows?

I don't listen to them regularly by I'm not opposed to it.  I remember once driving across the desert one lonely night from Las Vegas to Los Angeles and finding a station playing old serials all night long.  A great way to pass the time while driving at night, especially the Lone Ranger serials.  Thumbup

WHuh-Oh! Now I'm listening to The Shadow AND Richard Diamond, Private Detective. Could be that the Lone Ranger is next. My parents loved these shows but that doesn't mean I'm getting lamer. It just means I'm learning to appreciate an ancient art form. Wink

I have some old Green Hornet radio shows on tape, they're pretty neat.  Thumbup

I like "Lights Out," "Suspense," "CBS Radio Mystery Theater," and others.  Here's a link to an internet radio station that plays many of the good ones.

I'm a big fan of Dark Shadows, the Gothic horror soap opera from the '60s  and '70s.  A while back they got some of the original cast members together and did some audio drama type things, very much like the old radio shows.  I thought that was so cool!
