If you could narrow down five of your favourite albums, which ones are they?

Mine are (in no particular order):

W.A.S.P.-W.A.S.P. (1984)

As I've stated before, W.A.S.P.'s debut album remains my personal favourite of their entire output. I find the songs fun, crazy, emotional and most of all: heavy. Put all these together and you get one hell of an album.

Best songs: I Wanna Be Somebody, L.O.V.E Machine, School Daze, Sleeping in the Fire, On Your Knees, Tormentor, The Torture Never Stops.

King Diamond-Abigail (1987)

The first King Diamond album I bought, and it still remains as my personal favourite of his.

Best songs: Arrival, A Mansion in Darkness, The Family Ghost, The 7th day of July 1777, Abigail, Black Horsemen.

Venom-Welcome to Hell (1981)

Venom's debut has enough satanic content, heaviness, speed and raw energy that will make any metalhead smile.

Best songs: Sons Of Satan, Welcome to Hell, Schizoid, Poison, Angel Dust, Live like an Angel Die like a Devil, In League with Satan.

Yngwie Malmsteen-Trilogy (1986)

His last good album delivers some impressive solos, interesting riffs/keyboards and great vocal harmony.

Best songs: You Don't Remember I'll Never Forget, Liar, Queen in Love, Crying, Fury, Magic Mirror, Dark Ages, Trilogy Suite Op. 5

Alice Cooper-Raise Your Fist and Yell (1987)

An unfairly underrated album with some great tunes. The only song I can't stand is "Not that kind of love", which reminds me of a bad Kiss song.

Best songs: Freedom, Lock Me Up, Step On You, Prince of Darkness, Time to Kill, Gail, Roses in White Lace.

An impossible task, really, as it changes too much, but for fun here are five choices I could live with (I cheated with a couple of box sets in there).

The Glenn Gould Edition - Bach: The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book I

Tom Waits, Raindogs

Louis Armstrong, The Hot Fives and Sevens

Miles Davis, Sketches of Spain

The Beatles, Abbey Road

Out of the Blue - Electric Light Orchestra

The Beatles (White Album) - The Beatles

1. Joe Stummer & the Mescalaros - Street Core
2. Alice In Chains - Dirt
3. Muse - Absolution
4. Social Distortion - White Light, White Heat, White Trash
5. The Beatles - Yellow Submarine (1999 reissue)

Of course, it kind of depends on the mood I'm in.
