I AM THE BAD PHOTOSHOP EFFECT!

« on: September 12, 2010, 04:00:43 PM »

Just got back from seeing this.

What we have here is  fairly mediocre action movie with some horror elements to its stroyline.  Like the games themselves, the George Romero-esque nightmare has been surplanted by superpowers and comic-book stlye doomsday weopons.

When we last saw the heroine Alice (Mila Joveasomethinghardtospell) she had incredilbe powers and an army of clones at her side.  Well this is all taken care of in the first 15-20 minutes of the movie.  What follows is a cookie cutter zombie flick with the occasional nods to the game thrown in.  Memorable creatures like the Executiioner Maijjn appear without any explanation of what is going on. and where they come from.

Also we have another case of bad 3D effects.  It didn't seem to work in the beginning of the film and once I got used to it, it really didn't seem special.

It sounds like I hated the movie. But I also didn't think it was as bad as some of the other reviews of it I've seen.  But I suggest waiting for the DVD release, or home movie channels.  Or if your going to see it in theaters-matinee in 2D.

This movie will hold a certain memory for me though.  When I saw it, I was the only person in the theater.  This happened once before with Pathfinder.  That made the film a little more fun for me.

I was wondering what this one would be like.  I thought the first one was great, second one was putrid, third one was good, and...looks like the 4th one continued the pattern  BounceGiggle

Going to see this soon. I didn't really care for the 1st one. Really liked the 2nd one. 3rd was kinda meh.

I'm not expecting the movies to follow the storyline exactly. Moreso to use similar themes or characters and adapt them to the big screen.

My parents saw (they're better now recently) it together and said it was alright.  My dad said I would probably like it because it was based on a video game.  Of course, knowing about this movie, I know this more of a movie based on a video game in theory.  We familiar characters, enemies, virus, and titles, but yet everything else is much more different than Resident Evil 4/5.  Haven't seen the movie, but this is what I could gather from hearing about the movie.

I liked the first, thought the second was so bad it was good, and absolutely hated the third.  I decided after watching that piece of plot vomit that I would not watch any further sequels.  After hearing about this one, I decided ultimately that I would skip it.

No thank you, sir.  I liked RE when it was cops vs. zombies and not this kung fu muushu zombie bulls**t.

You guys would probrably like Resident Evil: Degeneration. It's all CG, stars Leon and Claire. Takes places after RE4 and kind of leads up a little to RE5. Still has Zombies as the main dead guys.

i just saw this a couple days ago...and i hated it it was just stupid and it felt to me like they were trying way to hard make it bigger and more over the top then the last one, you can tell that by the unnecesary slo motion and the rediculously over the top action sene we get in the first ten to fifteen minutes. it was a real forgettable movie for me and in my opinion it was the worst movie in the film series, and what the hell was with that cheap set up for another movie at the end? also how in the F*CK! did the black dood live, im not trying to be racist im just saying it doesnt seem possible to me , anyone mind explaining?

I liked the general premise of a corporation bringing disaster and suffering to a lot of people, and a group of self appointed avengers going into their corporate stronghold to administer some high caliber justice.

The movie was awful, but the idea of some people finally deciding to make corporate leaders pay for the evil they do was one I loved.

I really didn't like the first one, could never make it through the second, and didn't care about seeing the third or forth movies. My problem with the Resident Evil movies is that they lack character, story telling and cool monsters. The movies spend to much time trying to be like the Matrix and not enough like the dark and creepy suspenseful video games. And the awesome monsters from the games have always been the most memorable part of the series, in the movies the monsters are in short supply and never get as frightening and as bizarre as the games do. The first movie had a couple of zombie dogs and one Licker, thats hardly what I call the crazy monster fest that the video game was and in the second movie the Nemesis was a joke and wasn't any where as near frightening as the video games unstoppable super mutant.

I really wish somebody competent had made these movies and not some complete jagoff like Anderson.

Really?  I thought it was pretty bad.  In particular, terrible action sequences (which, really, there is no excuse for in a semi-high budget CG project - Code Veronica, RE4 and I presume RE5 have good action in their cut scenes, and I doubt they had the same amount of money put in them), so-so voice acting, a storyline as bad as the live action movies, and none of the gore of the games.  Very disappointing.

I'm waiting on this new one to drop to $5 at my local theatre.  I heard what happens in the opening half hour, and it kind of annoyed me, so whatever.
