3. THE GODFATHER, Part II

I've seen bits and pieces, just never the whole thing.

The highest ranked one I've seen none of:

Just curious -- what's the highest rated movie on IMDB's top 250 that you've never seen?  (Link to the list: http://www.imdb.com/chart/top).

For me, it's #19, CITY OF GOD.  I'm sure its a great movie and I'd watch it if the opportunity came up, but I'm not going to seek it out.

Ignoring "Inception," then I'm in the same boat as you.  "City of God."

#8. Twelve Angry Men

13. Seven Samuri

These are both incredible films, and I'd recommend them to anyone.  "Twelve Angry Men" and "Rashomon" make for a great combination if you watch them the same night, and both will really get you to thinking.  I last watched "Rashomon" about five months ago, and sometimes I still turn the film and its ideas over in my head.

The highest rated I've never seen is Seven Samarai. I don't know why I've not seen it. And it's on Netflix for streaming. Sweet.

The newly restored Criterion version of "Seven Samurai" is due out this month.  I will say that men seem to like it more than women, but "Seven Samurai" is an amazing movie.

#47, Amelie. After reading about it I know its not my type of movie and I will never watch it.  Chick flicks suck.   TeddyR

I'm not a fan of chick flicks, but I like "Amelie" a lot.  It's a very creative film, and a lot of fun.  You'll never look at a lawn gnome the same way again.

Hehe. Well, that's just it. My wife is not terribly keen on Asian cinema in general, but especially something more testosteronic (new word?) like Seven Samurai.

I agree about Twelve Angry Men. It's right it should be rated so high, and sometimes overlooked as the virtually perfect film that it is in terms of performance, execution, editing, you name it. The claustrophobic feel of the film is fantastic, almost a No Exit quality to it.

2. The Godfather.

I've seen 155 of the movies on the list.  So let me get this straight: Sin City is better than Heat, Fargo and Blade Runner; Avatar is better than The Exorcist, District 9, The Thing, The Terminator, Night of the Hunter, The Graduate, Big Lebowski and In Bruges; and Crash (not the Cronenberg one) is better than Toy Story 2, Patton, and Anatomy of a Murder.  Yeah, OK............

Seemingly, like a number of people, it'd be #1. "Shawshank Redemption."

Going a bit further, I've seen 103 or 41.2% of the 250 movies listed. Of those 103 films, I liked 74% and disliked 26%. That normally would be good ratio of like to dislike, but with these films supposedly being the best films ever made, the ratio might not be that good.

12 Angry Men (1957), Schindler's List (1993) and they are closely followed by Inception (2010)

#3 The Godfather part 2

I've not seen 99 of them.

I'm disappointed that KING KONG (1933)  didn't make the list.

As an update, I have not seen 65 of the top 250.  Mostly the older ones, pre 1980.
