THE CAR likes to attack kiddie parades and French Horn-tooting hippies.

The one Pixar movie that I have always wanted a sequel to was A Bug's Life. But for some reason, that movie is never mentioned at all when people discuss Pixar's filmography to date. Cars was fun but was made much more for children. Their other movies IMO were true family films that had jokes that would fly over the head's of children and smack adults upside the head. Toy Story 3 was really good but was a wee bit too much of a rehash of part 2 in a lot of respects. I also wonder why we haven't seen a sequel to The Incredibles yet as writer/director Brad Bird has stated that he had a whole sequel already planned out not too long after the first movie came out.

I don't get why there needs to be a sequel to Cars.  I liked the movie and own it on DVD, but its not one of the Pixar movies I ever thought that should get a sequel.  Something like The Incredibles or Monster's Inc. (A prequel I suppose will work as) would be better for a sequel.

Oh well, I'll see the movie regardless.  Prehaps they'll be able to make it good (Pixar hasn't let me down yet).

Probably because Carland comes to Disney's California Adventure in 2012, which is when the movie probably should open in theaters.

apparel, art, books, Broadway, collectibles, cruise ships, edibles, films, gifts, guided vacations, home decor, housewares, ice shows, jewelry, magazines, music, pet products, pins, radio, resorts, souvenirs, stores, television, theme parks, toys, websites, Xmas items, etc.

It is called synergy. And every idea gives rise to another idea. Which is why Disney is the largest entertainment and media conglomerate in the world.

I second that about The Incredibles. That's the one for me that I've always thought made the most sense for a sequel. It was totally set up for one.

While I haven't heard of any talk of doing a sequel to "The Incredibles." There will be a sequel to "Monsters, inc." called--originally enough--"Monsters, inc. 2." It is scheduled to be released to theaters in 2012.

I have to agree with what a friend of mine said - Cars is essentially "Doc Hollywood".  But, being a bit cynical, I did notice that of all the Pixar films, it seemed to have the most in terms of high selling merchandise (heck, I Toys R Us probably still has Cars figures and stuff for sale), so maybe that had something to do with them wanting Pixar to make a sequel.

I wouldn't say it was terrible, but it didn't quite feel up to Pixar's normal standards. It would've been considered great by any other company, but seeing how Pixar's first feature film was "Toy Story," they've had a hell of an act to follow ever since.

HELP! WE ARE STUCK IN A GOOD MOVIE!!!

« Reply #25 on: October 09, 2010, 10:57:51 PM »

That would be funny if the "The Car" was in the movie Cars.  We could put a tail on the car and horns.  We could then put horns on the car and then big eyes on the windshield.  The story cold show how Lighting McQueen made a deal with the devil to keep the Piston Cup and save Porshe.  Or some other weird story.

I am just rambling.

Later,

John
