I have 6 or 7 things I may need help on, but I'll start with 2 to keep it simple and post the rest later.

1 - One of those boy-meets-alien movies in what seems to be a western town. Everyone had cowboy hats on. I think what I remember is the ending where everyone I'd gathered round and the alien is either inviting the boy or leaving, but one of the cowboy dudes opens fire on the alien. I think the alien was hit, but he quietly boards his ship, and it seems like the alien is sad oe hurt and the ship is rattling and the inside is lighting up with different colors, and I think it blows up. That's all I remember.

2 - I vaguely remember this next one from my early teens, probably late 80s or early-mid 90s. It was a weird psycho-horror or something that involved what seemed to be a traumatized young woman who cried and moaned a lot and possible dreams or flashbacks to when she was a little girl, and I remember some evil granny with discolored teeth, and an incident where the girl is outside (in the daylight) and she lifts up a trashcan lid and there's a stiff dead cat inside that makes a weird noise (kind of like the cat in MP's Holy Grail), and she's running around exploring and the noise reoccurs a few times. The girl was brunette to my recollection.

All help is appreciated, I've tried my darndest to remember these films.

JJ80 is right, the first one is almost definitely The Aurora Encounter.

I think #2 might actually have been an episode of The X-Files.

That second one has got to be Sybil (1976).  Made-for-tv classic with a young Sally Field!

WOW!!! You guys are good. After looking into your suggestions, those movies are definitely Aurora Encounter and Sybil. Thanks for giving me closure on two childhood cinema memories!
