I want to be Ripley when I grow up.

I caught a glimpse of a TV ad for Megamind (Dreamworks/Paramount Nov 5  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1001526/  ).  As the image of the character "Minion" appeared briefly behind Megamind, I yelped, "Robot Monster! It has to be!"

My kids were ready to have me picked up in the rubber truck for a vacation.  BounceGiggle

Minion is a robot with the build and pelt of a gorilla and a fishlike being for a head/face/brain contained in a bubble/diving helmet.

It's an obvious reference/homage, right?

I really appreciate these; likely because it makes me feel "in the know" when I spot them.  Which may be the intent, at least in part: amuse the adults as well as the kidlets.

Makes me wonder how many references I miss, blatant or not, not having seen as many B-movies as perhaps quite a few have?
