I'm sure I've posted something similar before about this topic?  Do you regift, aka the art of giving someone a gift you have previously received and didn't want/like?

I always seem to end up with oddities people give me that I really have no use for in the long run.  For example, this year someone gave ma a wine bottle holder.  I'm not sure why this person thought I was a wine drinker but they gave it to me anyhow.  That particular gift will be given to someone else I know who is a wine drinker.

In other words, don't exchange gifts with me.   Bluesad

I have never regifted in the strict sense of the word.  I have received gifts from people and given them to other people, but I always said something like, "I received this as a gift . . . I really can't use it, but I thought you might like it.  It's yours if you want it."  I guess this is "full disclosure" regifting.

Nope, I just save it then donate to charity at a later date.

I just can't regift, I've thought about it, but couldn't do it.  If I get something I don't want, it usually gets thrown out or donated to charity or the thrift store.

My sister is a bad regifter.  She forgets who gave her things and has at least once regifted a gift to the original gifter.  I'm really paranoid about people regifting my gifts so if I don't know for sure the person is going to like what I give them, I settle for a food gift - I'll either bake something or get a fruit basket or candy.  That way if they regift it, it will be within a short time of receiving it when the original gifter is still fresh in mind so they won't accidentally return it to me, and if they don't want it, they won't feel bad about tossing it when it's no good.

I once got a bottle of champagne on my birthday which I gave away on Christmas as a gift. I think that was the only time I'd regift.

Drinks don't count... Unless they are pre drunk and that lacks class.
