It's that time of year again, when TBS runs "24 Hours of A Christmas Story."

I've always had a warm place in my heart for this classic, so I love it. I also like that I can go anywhere and flick the on TBS and be able to catch it. However, I don't fault anyone for thinking it's not the greatest thing ever. Just curious what my fellow badmoviephiles think.

I went with option 3.  It's certainly a good movie, but seeing it once was plenty.  My favorites are the Rankin Bass stuff and we watch them every year - Rudolph, Frosty, Little Drummer Boy, etc.  Beginning tonight actually  TeddyR

Strictly rabbit ears, I get sick of the constant showings of the ultra depressing "It's A Wonderful Life".

I went with the second option from the top. It's actually one of my favorite comedies. However, I usually only watch it around Christmas-time, but that makes sense. I'm always tempted to buy the DVD or VHS when I see it, but I don't see a point with the 24 hour marathon going strong. If I ever see it very cheap in person, I'll probably do it.

Side note: My dad used to make lamps as a hobby (he has not done very many in the past several years.) and he made several replicas of the leg lamp (with mannequin legs) as gifts. They actually looked pretty cool. I'll keep my eyes open for a picture of one to post on here.

Oh my, I wasn't trying to suggest I watch it year round. I would have to check myself into an asylum were that the case. But when the season rolls around I do tend to catch it at least twice.

TeddyR I wasn't trying to suggest that, but I did word my response oddly, so I get why you would think that.

I must admit that sometimes when it's late Spring to early Autumn, I do get a slight craving for some parts of this time of year and A Christmas Story is one of those parts.

Sometimes, I'll have it playing as I fall asleep, after I've watched it once or twice anyway. I usually end up watching bits and pieces of it (at different times throughout the day.) on Christmas day.

Option #1 and if you pick the last two options you can't be my friend any more because I don't trust crazy people.

It is in my top 5, seriously and I love this film.

Yes, I guess I love my family and friends and the whole Christmas routine, but I swear my 'Best Christmas Ever' was a few years ago when I agreed to house-sit a friend's rather isolated cabin a few days before Christmas.

Turns out I got snowed in and caught the flu. I spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day completely alone (except for a couple of dogs) drifting in and out of fevered sleep while A CHRISTMAS STORY played endlessly on TBS.

Again: best Christmas ever!

In reference to kid brother Randy in his snow outfit "he looked like a tick about to pop."

I picked the 3rd option, but it's not entirely true.  I DO see what all the fuss is about, but I just can't watch it intently over and over.  However, I have no problem leaving the marathon on while we have company Christmas day because then we don't have to worry about finding something Christmasy to put on and everyone can socialize without worrying about missing their favorite part.
