Winter's Bone? I didn't hear of that one. The title sounds like a porno movie about a bunch of people stuck in a cabin during a blizzard and then...

Boom-chicka-wow-wow.

BLACK SWAN let me down a little bit, but still top 10 material.  I'll slip it in at #7.

Flick: WINTER'S BONE is a documentary about Edgar Winter and his groupies.   Buggedout  No, seriously, Jennifer Lawrence will probably get an Oscar nomination for her role as a teenage girl searching for her on the lam meth cook father among the hillbilly mafia so the family home won't get repossessed.

I was just going for cheap laughs. Actually I met Edgar Winter in 1992. In my twenties I was seriously trying to make it in music. The band I was in at the time was recording at a studio in Hollywood, and it just happened to be the same studio Edgar was recording some tracks in ealier that week. He dropped in to pick up some rough mixes to listen to while we were listening to our playback. He said he liked our music, but he was probably just being polite.

Nice guy though.

I've been ill a lot this year and haven't seen much as I don't like going out much anymore, even to the video shop but I have to nominate Darfur as my favourite film this year, amongst a very few others. For those of you that don't know, that film was made here by Uwe Boll.

8. WINTER'S BONE

Part of me wants to watch that, but it just seems so depressing...

1.) Toy Story 3
2.) Jackass 3D
3.) The Other Guys
4.) The Crazies
5.) I'm Still Here
6.) The A-Team
7.) Iron Man 2
8.) MacGruber
9.) Nightmare on Elm Street
10.) Saw 3D

From what I remember, they're the only theater releases I saw this year.  Haven't seen Inception yet, but may eventually see it.

This might sound weird but I have yet to see any movies from 2010 as far as I know. I don't live near a theater so i generally wait for movies to appear on television....(or DVD but more oft TV for new movies).

Silly for me to make this list. I don't go out to the theater very often, so most of the best movies of 2010 I haven't seen yet. The ones I have were either the few I went to theater to see, or the ones that have come out on DVD. Ask me to make this list again in six months and it will be completely different. (True Grit and Rare Exports, I'm looking your way.)

1. Inception - No surprise here. Nolan is fast becoming the go-to guy for HUGE budget, thoughtful films. Nolan tops The Dark Knight (and yes I love that film). Visual pyrotechnics and brain-twisting subject matter? Sign me up. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is primed to be an acting powerhouse.

2. Shutter Island - This may be lesser Scorsese (and Lehane for that matter), but a great film nonetheless. It actually holds up to a repeated viewing more than Inception. Bonus points for having one of the most emotionally gut-wrenching cores of a film in recent history. You can actually hear DiCaprio's soul shattering.

3. Frozen - Three kids get stuck on a ski-lift. How much of a movie can you get out of that? Quite a lot, actually. Visceral as hell.

4. The Social Network - Really well put together, and about as entertaining as you can get for being a movie about Facebook. It really couldn't be any better because, well, it's a movie about Facebook. There's only so good it can get.

5. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World - Okay, it isn't as good as the comic. Edgar Wright makes the absolute most out of it he can in two hours.

6. How to Train Your Dragon - I didn't see it in 3-D. Fine film, with an actual core. Kids have it so good these days.

7. Despicable Me - Don't tell anybody I enjoy cute children. This movie would make it on my list for no other reason than "IT'S SO FLUFFY!" (And the fart gun.)

8. Predators - A great film? Not at all. Entertaining? Yes.

9. Operation: Endgame - Not a great thriller, and it uses present politics to no real good use. However, a great collection of comedic talent. Subtly funny in all the best ways. "Wait... all those people killed puppies?"

10. The Losers - The big, dumb action slot should have gone to the Expendables. Unfortunately for Sly, this movie came out in the same year.

It's a shame that Best Worst Movie technically has a release date of 2009, since it is so good. I also really liked the Secret of Kells, which was also released last year.
