Night 4: "Fritz the Cat"

This one's not really considered a b-movie fer real, but more of a CULT movie, which is along the same lines, so it still fits into the theme.

Fritz the Cat is based on the underground comic of the 60's that went by the same name, created by underground comic pioneer Robert Crumb. He had NOTHING to do with the production of the movie however. Instead, we have ledendary animator Ralph Bakshi spearheading it, so we're still in good hands. If you ever really want to take a peek into the sub-culture of the 60's, watch Fritz the Cat. It doesnt really have a consistant story, but instead follows the title charecter as he gets himself into various mis-adventures such as having an doped-up orgy in a bathtub and blowing up a power plant with a group of hippie "revolutionary" extremists. It's most definatly a product of its time (it came out in the early 70's) but it works, because if it had come out any later, it wouldn't have felt so natural. Something interesting that Bakshi does from time to time in the movie is he uses recordings of real conversations that people had and aplied animation to them. As a result, it has a very realistic feel when you hear the backround charecters talk. But then again, If I wanted realism, I wouldn't be watching a cartoon.

Night 5: "Forbidden Zone"

Anyone who has ever seen Forbidden Zone will know how difficult it is to explain, but I'm gunna go ahead and try anyway. Imagine one of those OOOLLLLD 20's-40's black an' white cartoon serials with the Cab Calloway music. Ya know, the ones with NO regards to political correctness because there WAS NO political correctness back when they were made. Picture one of THOSE, but live action and with Danny Elfman doing the score. Really, it's a bit more complex then that, but that's the best way I can describe it without writting a godamm essay. It's something that would be created if you were to put a dozen hyperactive 8-year old boys in a room and told them to write a skript. I'm not going to get into the plot, but just know that it has all the esential movie elements. Tits, poop jokes, talking poultry, decapitation, people in their underpants, machine guns, drugs, Gorillas, pedophilia, and that midget from "Fantasy Island". I can't recomend this movie enough.
