A whimsical question, to be sure, but I'm just curious what kind of responses I'll get.

No.  Whimsy takes time and effort, and I got neither.

I'm sort of a whimsical guy  TeddyR

Ah, who am I kidding.  My life's as boring and routine as it's possible to get.

A good bad movie is like popcorn for the soul!

I am charitably regarded as "whimsically eccentric" by my friends and students.

For example: Monday and Tuesday I went digging for arrowheads with some friends.  Doug's son Blair, age 18, joiined us, and I spent a good part of the day rattling off old folk sayings - most of which I made up or heard somewhere, none of which make any sense.  For example:

"When the snake falls in love with the garden hose, it's time to buy a new pair of boots!"
"When in Rome, the guilty dog gathers no moss!"
"When the squirrel's in the pantry, the dog gets free underpants!"

He was going nuts trying to figure out what they meant, and I was having great fun watching his confusion.

Does that qualify as whimsical?

Certainly.

You sound like you would appreciate this joke:

My state of Arizona is a whimsical state. Just take a look at some of the town names:

Tombstone
Boneyard
Carefree
Chloride
Floss
Nothing
Show Low
Strong
Surprise
Tuba City

And, my favorite:

We've got some goofy town names in Kentucky.  There's a Paris, Versailles, Cuba, Mexico, Texas, and Bagdad, KY, not to mention:

Awe
Batchelors Rest
Bug
Burning Springs
Dukedom
Eighty-Eight
Future City
Krypton
Monkey's Eyebrow
Moon
Pig
Possum Trot
Rabbit Hash
Shoulderblade
Thousandsticks

And my favorite:

Beaverlick (I believe this is the town Menard hails from)

There's also Big Bone Lick State Park!

I painted my bathroom walls pink with sparkles, is that whimsical enough?  And no, before anyone asks, I don't call them my sugar walls.

Illinois doesn't have many whimsical town names.  We have Kickapoo and Goofy Ridge, that's kind of funny!  Indiana, however, has French Lick and Santa Claus!

In Kentucky, we got Big Bone Lick, and Henpeck; don't know if those are somehow related or not.

I'm not as whimsical as I used to be. My daughter has enough whimsy for the whole family, though. Unfortunately, keeping her focused is turning me into a facsimile of my own frequently grouchy dad. Still, I'm ten times as whimsical as my dad.
