Songs that bring on the waterworks?

The three songs which never fail to make me blub are Sailing by Rod Stewart, Nice To See You by the SA group Mango Groove and either or both versions of Candle In The Wind by Sir Elton John.

Silent Lucidity by Queensryche, its the innocence of children sleeping and counting on their parents to chase the bad dreams away theme that gets me.  With three kids, its impossible for me not to react that way to it.

When Somebody Loved Me by Sarah McLaughlin simply because it reminds me of Jessie's story in Toy Story 2.  Very sad indeed.  Hearing my four year old sing it brings it on worse.

Thank God For Kids by The Oak Ridge Boys, once again childhood innocence.  

Your Song by Elton John, it just kind of reminds me of my life with my wife and family.

Lady In Red by Chris Deburg, I find it to be one of the most beautiful songs about loving someone.

Through The Years By Kenny Rogers, I dance with my mother to this song at my wedding.

Seasons In The Sun by Terry Jacks. 

It was about a terminally ill man saying goodbye to his friends and family.

"We had joy, we had fun
we had seasons in the sun
but the hills that we climbed
were just seasons out of time."

That line always gets me for some reason.


Also, there was some song in the mid 90's the title of which escapes me.

Part of the lyrics went:

"Somebody's daughter...lies under the water"

The song was about a girl who committed suicide by jumping into the ocean, if I remember right.  It was good for a few tears.

While it dosen't get me really crying, I always feel a slight of emptiness when I hear Baby Be Good by The Smithereens.  It's a sad song about trust and the fear of betrayal, and I know that all of us guys at one time or another felt this way whenever we were away from that one lady we all loved so much.  Give it a whirl here:

Hurt by Johnny Cash gets me every time i hear it. The day he died, they played it on the local new rock station. When it was over the d.j came on and was crying as he announced he had passed away.

Yeah, Johnny Cash was THE rebel. Always dressed in black and each of his songs a story about his life. He was one hard livin' S.O.B. too-he HAD to be, serving time at both Folsom and San Quentin prisons. 

Every line on his face had a story to tell about hard-learned lessons, When it came to hard assed good old boys, they didn't get any tougher than Johnny Cash. He was the real deal.

This is the only song that ever made my eyes tear up. It's just beautiful and true.

If somebody mentions Charlene - I've Never Been To Me I'm gonna puke 

I've never cried listening to a song, but I was emotionally moved listening to The Cross by Prince for the first time.

"Lightning Crashes" by Live gets to me almost every time I hear it.

"Down in a Hole" by Alice In Chains, especially the Unplugged version - wow, seeing that was one of Layne Staly's last performances and the emotion he puts into it...

"Caroline" by Concrete Blonde

"Carry Me Across the Mountain" by Dan Tyminski

Quite a few others, actually.  Music gets "inside" me sometimes, especially when I am already feeling emotional.

I was wondering when someone was going to mention that song. 

Another song that makes me misty-eyed is I'll Be Missing You by PDiddy and Faith Evans: the version that PD performed at The Concert For Diana in 2007 floored me emotionally. Come to think of it, there's another rap song that is also very emotional ~ I think it's called See You When You Get There.
